The flower trade is not short of software. There are point-of-sale systems, proposal builders, recipe calculators and delivery managers, and several of them are very good. None of them are our competition, and none of them are cut flower apps. They run the business: the till, the delivery run, the website, the event desk. Now walk into a garden center. There is no app the staff use to look up a plant either. What they have is the tag in the pot — name, light, water, height, often a QR code — and research from the tag makers says about 70% of shoppers read it in the store and nearly all of them keep it. Cut flowers arrive with none of that. No tag, no name, no care card. The knowledge has to live somewhere, and the only place left is the phone in the employee’s pocket.
