A Message to End Users
Including you. And that makes you part of this industry.
You have found a trade website. It is built for flower shops, growers and the people in between, and the whole point of it is to get more people through a flower shop’s door, everywhere in the world. The campaign has a name: I Speak Flowers™ — a standard written by florists, a free list of the shops that meet it, and a free decal for the door, so you can tell a real flower shop at a glance. A Cut Flower App for the people behind the counter comes later. You are the customer all of it is trying to reach, which makes your opinion the most useful one on this page.
Buy flowers, yes — but you could do more than that. A few questions nobody in this trade has really asked a customer: What brings you into a flower shop? What keeps you out — price, parking, not knowing what to ask for? What could a shop do differently that would make you come back? And when the Cut Flower App is built, its beta testers should include the people flower shops serve. If you would answer questions like that, we want to hear from you.
Tell us where you are and what you think. We will point you to flower shops near you as the list fills in — we are building it now, shop by shop — and we will send the occasional question about what would bring you through a flower shop’s door. We do not take orders, we do not route orders and we do not take a percentage. You call the shop yourself.
We'll point you to flower shops near you as the list fills in, and ask you the occasional question about what brings you in.
We never sell your information.
Our goal is growth in flower shops around the world. Flower shops have been closing for decades while flower sales grow. Anyone can put the word "florist" on a website: a call center two states away can take your order and pay a shop near you a cut to fill it, and a grocery cooler can call itself a floral department. The decal in the window is how you tell them apart.
It is for shops you can walk up to: a door, an address, and flowers on hand. That is what the decal tells a customer, so it only goes in a shop window. Florists working from home do real work, and nothing here says otherwise. If you have ever thought about opening your own flower shop, this might be the moment to do it.
With gratitude for every flower you have ever bought
Twenty-five dollars, once, from someone who just loves flowers. It goes to the campaign that points customers to real flower shops, and it keeps you posted on what happens next, including the Cut Flower App when it exists.
You do not have to pay anything to help. Buy from a flower shop, ask who grew the flowers, and tell a friend which shop to use. That is the whole job.
